Greetings. I'm not at all sure you'll be interested, but here goes, in response to your plea to hear from Concept 2 users.I'm a healthy 70 year old female, working almost full time as a speech pathologist; I sit in the car a lot for three days a week getting fat, a life-long problem. Waaay back when, I was a 20 mile a week runner, tennis player, bike rider, swimmer; all just for the good feelings, and often good results with a chronic weight problem.I had a life event at about 63 that threw a monkey wrench into that; my metabolism slowed, etc.Enter the Concept 2. I tried it for a while but found it monotonous. I then bust a meniscus; the fat stayed and my osteoarthritis made me cautious too. The doctor advised swimming but it's too time-consuming and far away. I'm careful as I can be to row without going beyond a 90-degree angle with a damaged knee.Last June we moved to a house on a lovely acre. Now my Concept 2 lives by a window with a view of the bird feeder and wetlands. 2 1/2 months ago I started rowing for three minutes, and, week by week, moved up till I now do 21 minutes. The best part is the effect on my breathing, which is much improved. I'm usually at 28 strokes per minute, sometimes doing a half-minute sprint, listening to my body telling me it feels good. I also do self-talk, telling myself this is my time, that I'm nurturing myself as no one else can. There is no basement for our Indoor Rower, it sits in what was once the formal dining room of this old (1750) house, and my spouse sometimes uses it too. I regard it as a piece of sculpture and if company doesn't like it, tough!Thanks a lot for the letter Vera; we're always keen to hear from people about their experiences rowing.
